Cruises are popular for many reasons. One, once you are on the boat you are taken care of with top customer service. Food is accessible practically 24 hours a day. There are numerous events set up for all different ages and persuasions. It is almost impossible to be bored on a cruise. They have internet connectivity, swimming pools, hot tubs, dance floors, games, and shops. All cruise boats have fitness areas too. It is a complete vacation.
There are only two things on a cruise that are not paid for ahead of time: drinks and excursions. All adult cruise members are required to pay $50 or more to be put on a card. This card can then be carried around instead of money. The amount is deducted each time an adult beverage is ordered. The card can be reloaded too.
Excursions are not paid for ahead of time for several reasons. The first is that you may not know what excursions are available until you are on the boat. There are times itineraries have to be changed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. It might mean certain places that were depicted on the brochure are not possible. Time limits may also have to change based on tides and where you visit.
While cruise companies work very hard to ensure nothing changes things do happen. Thus, you will be given an opportunity to choose excursions once you board the ship. You will have to pay for the excursions then. There is a wide range of options to ensure there is something inexpensive for those on a budget.
You can also elect to explore an area without an excursion. If you do this make sure you are still with a group of people, preferably with at least one person you know. Plan out the excursion such as where to eat, shop, and have a little free fun. The only other option you have is to use credit to book excursions if you do not have enough with you. So, plan ahead to keep away from cash in a flash options.
